Introduction to Using the Trunk Bus Scheme in PVFARM
The basics about the 3 types of trunk bus available in PVFARM
Intro
This article introduces the basics of the trunk bus layout in PVFARM. There are three different trunk bus schemes available:
- Extender - EW Trunk - LBD - DC Feeder - Skid
- NS Trunk - EW Trunk - CB - DC Feeder - Skid
- Harness - Extender - EW Trunk - LDB - DC Feeder - Skid
Not every wiring scheme is available for each LV Equipment configuration due to box locations. PVFARM will only allow you to select the available wiring schemes that can be used for each of the
1. Extender - EW Trunk - LBD - DC Feeder - Skid
When using the "Extender - EW Trunk - LBD - DC Feeder - Skid" scheme the module strings are connected with extenders to the E-W Trunk bus. Those extenders locations are based on the number of strings and where they are located along the tracker.
Teal lines are the extenders, Green lines are is the trunk Bus, and Blue lines are the DC Feeders.
2. NS Trunk - EW Trunk - LBD - DC Feeder - Skid
Red lines are the NS Trunk, teal lines are the EW Trunk, and yellow lines are the DC Feeders..
3. Harness - Extender - EW Trunk - LDB - DC Feeder - Skid
When using the "Harness - Extender - EW Trunk - LDB - DC Feeder - Skid" scheme PVFARM the module strings are connected along the tracker with harness, once the end of the module string is reach it is connected to the E-W trunk with an extender. This is similar to the "Extender-EW Trunk - LBD" scheme just with harnesses and extenders as opposed to just extenders.
Light grey lines are the harnesses, teal is the extenders, blue is the E-W trunk, and Purple is the DC Feeders.
Conclusion
These are the different trunk bus schemes available in PVFARM. In the next article, we will explore circuits and how to manipulate them.
